I was so looking forward to my mom coming out to Italy and
spending a week. After her week here, we
were going to drive her to Budapest, Hungary and spend a few days. Then we were going to drive up into the
Carpathian Mountains in search of her parent’s families. Her mother came over to the United States on
her own when she was only seventeen years old.
It would be so great to see where she came from.
Unfortunately, that is going to have to wait, and won’t
happen on this trip. Mom had knee
surgery several months ago, and it has really been hurting her. In fact, so much so that she won’t be able to
come out and visit us. I think she will
probably have to go back in for more surgery…
We shall see. In any case, she is
in no shape to come out and visit L
We were planning on leaving Perugia on May 31st
with Mom. Since she can’t make it, we
will be staying until the 11th or 12th. The Italian school that the kids are
attending ends on the 9th, so that will give us a few days
afterwards to get organized and packed.
It is hard to believe that in just over a month we will be leaving here…
just when it is starting to feel like home…
