A Stop by New College, Oxford...

June 24, 2012

Before we left Oxford today, we took the kids down to New College where more parts of the Harry Potter movies were filmed.  Despite its name, it is one of the oldest colleges (1379) and quite lovely,

This courtyard is where Mad-eye Moody confronted Draco Malfoy and turned him into a ferret near the big tree…

The hallways around the courtyard were used in several scenes including Snape walking down them, and probably the most memorable being where all the students were taunting Harry with the “Potter Stinks” badges.

This is what we call the teardrop staircase…

Then it was back to St. Edmund Hall, through the secret entrance on the High Streer (David knew about a few of these, I wonder why???)  Jason was curious to know if the professors knew about the secret entrances…

We packed up and headed out for the day, with the kids definitely interested in returning to Oxford one day.
