Danika and I got up early today and let the boys sleep in. We took a walk down to the beach.
It was a bit chilly, but still a beautiful morning. We decided she needed to have a picture with her castle…
Here is a closer look at her castle, this is one of my favorite pictures of Maiori...
The boats were lovely all alone in the early morning sun…
Just as we were heading back to the hotel, the boys called, so we met them downstairs for breakfast. It was included with the room, and it was amazing. They had fresh fruit, croissants, all sorts of bread, meats, and cheese. There were pitchers of juice, milk (hot and cold) coffee, tea, cappuccino, nutella, I could go on. I think I gained five pounds just this morning.
Then we began our drive west up the Coast, beginning with Minori, which was just the next town over.
I should have been taking pictures of the road because it was so narrow that they had patrol people that directed traffic and they would even fold your wing mirrors in for you as there often was little more than inches to spare when passing traffic going the opposite direction. David is an amazing driver and it was actually a lot of fun!
We drove up to Ravello… a beautiful town up on the hill.
It was a bit cold when we went in the church…. This was an alter raised on six lions…
Walking the outskirts of the city was wonderful with amazing views…
That is the beach of Maiori (where we stayed) down there…
We drove back down from Ravello and through the town of Amalfi, but didn’t stop as there were way too many tour busses there.
There were many of these little mini towns on our drive…
We decided to stop in the town of Positano. We parked in a garage about a ten minute walk from town. It was nice to get out and stretch our legs after driving all of those curves around the cliffs…
We stopped and had some fresh lemon sorbet as well. With me, it is all about the food. J
Next we drove to Sorrento. This is the view coming into the city…
We had a great time exploring this city… Check out the weather progression in the pictures… It just kept getting stormier by the minute. However, we never got rained on.
Until the drive home… It rained the entire time.
When we got to the other side of the mountain, the fog was so dense we could barely see. I couldn’t even take pictures because they just turned out all white. We were so exhausted when we got back that we took an early night and went straight to bed :)
