Another outing while the kids were in school. David has a friend, Daniela Gattavecchi, from Oxford that has a winery in Montepulciano. The name of the winery is Cantina Gattavecchi. David had been to her home with a couple of his buddies just after he had graduated from college in 1988. They arrived on a Tuesday and Daniela's father insisted that they stay to have Sunday dinner. For those of you who know Paul Gladen, he was one of those buddies. Now, more than twenty years later, David decides to return.
So, we set off to find the winery right after dropping the kids off at school. Shortly after parking, we found this signpost that actually had the specific winery listed!
That made it quite easy to find.
When we walk in, the first person we see is his friend, Daniela Gattavecchi. She totally remembered him and was incredibly nice to us.
She gave us a tour and insisted that we return with the kids.
This is the wine that David remembered from his visit over twenty years ago.
The winery is situated on a hill and has the most gorgeous views.
We will definitely be returning, so look the next post on Cantina Gattavecchi J
